Planning for Nature

  Background
Planning for nature in 4 steps
  Resources
  Examples

'Planning for Nature’ is an approach for integrating nature conservation into spatial development planning.
Nature conservation may be the main aim or a subsidiary aim.

The design process takes account of the interests and knowledge of the stakeholders and the experts. The result is a design with the maximum profit for nature conservation, given the available resources.

The stepwise plan is flexible and can be modified as desired. The resources developed for the plan ensure that nature conservation plays a full role in the design process.

‘Planning for nature’ is already operational, it continues to be refined by scientists at Alterra, Green World Research (of Wageningen University Research Centre in the Netherlands).
